Boehringer Ingelheim Fremont is the rapidly growing US arm of Boehringer Ingelheim’s Biologics Business Unit. We are a fully integrated biologics operation with over 500 scientist and specialists, covering cutting edge early- to late stage CMC development, clinical and commercial drug substance and drug product manufacturing, medical device assembly for combination products and packaging operations.
We are continuing our rapid growth, investing over $200m into the expansion of our capacity and capabilities, and creating approximately 200 new jobs.
Driving this growth is an exciting pipeline of multiple Boehringer Ingelheim novel biologic entities (NBEs) and biosimilars, as well as, a growing diverse portfolio of therapeutics we develop and manufacture for other leading pharma and biotech companies. This includes multiple commercial product launches planned over the next couple of years, for which we can tap into Boehringer Ingelheim’s unique experience of having brought 30+ biologics to market globally.

Manage the outsourcing processes at Fremont site including global Bio development, analytical services to strategic partners, by leading identification, market screening, contracting, qualification and set up, monitoring compliant delivery and discontinuation.
Ensure compliant, reliable and cost competitive external supply by monitoring KPIs for key external partners and communicating to senior management.
Manage business processes and relationship with external partners/vendors by being the voice of the organization.

Manage therespective external partners/vendors throughout the entire contract life-cycle.
Conduct theselection and qualification process from the identification of outsourcingdemand through to the supply agreement, in close collaboration with outsourcingfunctions.
Lead the Fremontsite cross functional 3rd Party Management team meetings:
Prepare andconduct meetings including issuing of agenda, action items, and meetingminutes.
Prepare managementdecisions together with the team and present for endorsement to internalcommittees.
Communicate 3PMportfolio updates to the relevant steering committee at defined intervals.
Lead and manage themake-or-buy analysis with the appropriate functions and committees.
Design, implementand continuously improve the processes, systems and roles and responsibilitiesrelated to 3PM, within organizational definitions and guidelines
Actively enable thecontinuous improvement of 3PM processes by leveraging the global 3PM network
Lead a team(relevant BI functions) in issue resolution and negotiation as a first point ofescalation.
Support outsourcingunit with verification of final proposal and contract.
Represent theproject team by communicating the team’s opinion and proposals to BI committeesand external vendors.
Understand andinfluence external vendor expectations.
Bachelor’s degreefrom an accredited institution in Biopharmaceuticals, Biochemistry, or relatedfield is required
Masters or MBAdegree preferred
Eight to ten (8-10)years of industry experience or equivalent experience in related industryrequired
Two-three (2-3)years of project management experience
Excellent leadershipand communications skills
Project managementskills are a must
Knowledgeable aboutinterdisciplinary processes and systems
Ability to negotiate
Experience with CLO,CRO and CMO management is preferred
Must be manager witha strong analytical thinking, technical and business knowledge.
Must be a successfulnegotiator and have ability to build strong trusting relationships.
Must be able toinfluence, motivate and engage a cross-functional matrix team.
Critical thinkingand strong business judgment
Influencing,relationship building, and effective facilitation
Willing to travel
Must be legallyauthorized to work in the United States without restriction.
Must be willing totake a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
Must be 18 years ofage or older
