Medical Imaging Management Registered Vascular Technologist - Full Time in Fredericksburg, Virginia
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepares patients for imaging procedures by confirming physicians' orders, verifying patients' identities, and obtaining adequate medical histories to ensure the appropriateness of examinations and facilitate timely accurate diagnosis of the patient.
Reviews patient schedules to promote efficient use of resources and proper selection of exam protocols.
Performs and documents daily start up, and routine maintenance of all imaging equipment.
Implements Universal Precaution when dealing with potentially Biohazardous situations.
Decontaminates imaging equipment when indicated.
Performs procedures on all patient age groups and maintains clinical competency as determined by the medical staff and evidenced by initial and then annual performance appraisals.
Supports and assists lnterventional Radiologist, Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse and clinical staff as needed.
Archives, retrieves and manages images produced during procedures.
Adheres to departmental policies, procedures, standards, and protocols to ensure effective departmental operations and quality patient care.
Demonstrates a high degree of knowledge and understanding of Ultrasound and Vascular Imaging services/activities.
Interacts with all patients, visitors, physicians and coworkers in a courteous and professional manner.
Addresses customers' needs efficiently, effectively, and confidentially.
Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors by requiring and supporting the establishment, maintenance, and education of an effective safety management program.
Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and materials by reporting inventory depletion and restocking to ensure their continued availability and non-interruption of services. Order supplies as needed reports, records, and files patient and procedural data in order to accurately document department operations and facilitate timely accurate billing for services.
Participates in performance improvement activities.
Remains proficient in the use of information services as needed.
Utilizes information and communication technologies efficiently and in accordance with all HIPAA standards.
Cross trains and travels to related facilities to provide support as deemed necessary
Participates in all required training and successfully completes all competency testing post training as deemed necessary.
Additional duties may include:
Maintenance of accreditation through IAC. Involves quality assurance and correlation of ultrasound studies to other radiologic examinations.
Responsible for ensuring that technical protocols meet standards.
PACS administrator. Responsible for resolving conflicts and ensuring images transfer appropriately for archiving purposes.
Participate in planning and support of marketing for VIVA to include the vascular lab.
ARRT/ARDMS registered or registry-eligible in Vascular Sonography/Vascular Technology. (If registry-eligible at time of hire, must pass Registry examination within one year of hire date.)
Completion of accredited two-year program in Radiologic/Ultrasound Technology or equivalent.
Two years relevant experience preferred.
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Strong working knowledge of computer systems
