Latitude, Inc. Civil Engineering Manager in Frederick, Maryland

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year

We are seeking a professional engineer with project management experience in site design, utility design, roadway design and grading, storm drainage, stormwater management and erosion/sediment control. We provide design support through the concept, design, construction, and post construction of phases in all projects.

Civil Engineering Manager Role & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a senior project engineer on complex projects and as the designated client contact.

  • Maintain good relationships with client to assure future work.

  • Plan, design, and direct complex civil engineering projects.

  • Handle contract administration functions.

  • Review work-in-process to ensure accurate client billings and monitor outstanding accounts receivable and collection efforts.

  • Oversees all engineering operations including budgeting, scheduling, directing subordinates, prioritizing multiple projects and deadlines, and communication with management staff.

  • Attends staff meeting for coordination and scheduling of work with all departments.

  • Preparation of proposals on projects with subsequent project management responsibilities.

  • Understands projects scope of work and communicates this scope to support staff.

  • Monitors and maintains project budgets & productivity.

  • Demonstrates creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving problems.

  • Acknowledges and implements project appropriate suggestions from support staff.

  • Oversees the project specific preparation of improvement plans, specifications, supporting documents, and permit applications for subdivisions, commercial developments, multi-family developments and public works projects in both the public and private sector.

  • Oversees and designs grading, drainage, paving, sewer, water, street lighting, road alignment, geometrics, shed maps, and erosion control plans.

  • Works closely with CAD Designers, Engineers and Surveyors to obtain project information and ensure drawings are accurate and complete.

  • Understands project research and verifies utility connection information and determines if additional field information is required for design.

  • Coordinates with Surveying Department to obtain required information.

  • Identifies long lead items or project critical requirements (i.e., Right-of-Entry, off-site easements, sub consultant studies, and other agency permits).

  • Researches code issues and works with City, State and County officials.

  • Understands jurisdictional standards, policies, and local design procedural manuals and knows where to find them or how to get them.

  • Reviews drawings supplied by vendors, clients, engineers, and architects and recommends necessary changes.

  • Resolves a variety of complex problems (i.e., conflicting design requirements and difficult coordination requirements).

  • Reviews all work for completeness and accuracy before submitting to agencies.

Civil Engineering Manager Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor?s degree in Civil Engineering.

  • Minimum of 2 years? project management experience.

  • Civil Engineering (PE) license in Washington State preferred.

  • Must have a good working knowledge of Pierce, King, Mason, and Kitsap counties, as well as the State of Washington?s design policies and procedures.

  • The ideal successful Civil Engineer Project Manager will be a decisive, positive, detail-oriented civil engineering professional who can work independently and communicate well with other project team members.

  • 5-10 years of civil engineering land development experience pertaining to civil engineering design, land planning, entitlements, public agency interface, & public presentations for residential and commercial land development projects.

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or Civil 3D a plus.
