ABOUT THE CLIENT RELATIONS TEAM

We work with a diverse range of leading financial institutions including banks, wealth and asset managers, asset owners and insurers in developing and implementing tailored responsible investment strategies. The team operates in a lively, collaborative and supportive environment, where each day is different.
This role is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to be part of Sustainalytics' growth story, focusing on the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). The Associate Director will lead the team of relationship managers in Frankfurt, ensuring the team is empowered and well-equipped to demonstrate best practice. To that end, the role will involve the work on hiring, development, and retention of team members.
The Associate Director will assume a leading role in relationship management in the DACH region, taking ownership of Sustainalytics' relations with existing clients in the DACH region. Responsibilities principally involve developing and implementing strategies focused on satisfaction, retention and growth of existing clients.
Key responsibilities include:
Manage and lead the Frankfurt-based client advisory team (includes hiring, development and retention)
Lead the client advisory activities for a broad portfolio of institutional investors in the DACH region. In addition to owning some of our key client relationships directly, this also includes empowering and leading the local client advisory team in:
Demonstrating client advisory best-practices, acting as a trusted advisor
Supporting clients to build ESG strategies by providing advice and guidance on market best practices
Ensuring that clients' research needs are met, including content and delivery
Developing expert knowledge of Sustainalytics research and services
Growing and strengthening client relationships by encouraging the use and expansion of Sustainalytics' research and services
Stay on top of market developments, identify and share opportunities with internal teams
Closely collaborate with sales colleagues to further build Sustainalytics' presence in the region
Strengthen Sustainalytics' network within the investment industry and represent Sustainalytics at events, conferences, and networking groups in the DACH region
We work on a daily basis with colleagues in our other European offices as well as in North America and Asia, so the desire to work very closely with a diverse team from many different cultures is critical to working at Sustainalytics.
The ideal candidate is an experienced and entrepreneurial team leader with relevant industry expertise. The role is suited to those with a minimum of 10 years of work experience in a relevant field. The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
Demonstrated passion for sustainability and alignment with Sustainalytics' mission, vision and values (http://www.sustainalytics.com/about-us/);
Experience with building high-performing teams
6 years in a client-facing role in in the investment industry, ideally in a management role
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of financial services and ESG;
Strong client servicing and commercial skills;
English and German fluency (essential)
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Ability to understand and present complex products, with experience in delivering presentations to audiences of varying sizes;
Relevant industry network would be a strong advantage;
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
