The Sr. Director, Commercial IT serves as the strategic partner and trusted advisor for Kite’s Commercial functions. The role is accountable for identifying, qualifying, and driving digital transformation, and adoption of technology solutions which deliver measurable business outcomes. The position will focus on establishing relationships with key Commercial partners, influencing technology recommendations/decisions, and ensuring technology investments are aligned with business and IT objectives.
This role will also act as a single point of business accountability for anything related to technology and ensuring appropriate functions within IT are mobilized to address any needs/issues. Effective partnership and teamwork with business partners and other IT service teams is a key success factor in achieving the desired business outcomes. Successful candidates will have a background in the Commercial Operations of companies within the pharmaceutical, biotech or medical devices industries.
NOTE: This role can be based in either Santa Monica, CA, Foster City, CA, Seattle, WA, or remotely.
As part of Kite IT Leadership team, support defining of IT strategic priorities
Support Commercial business in defining tech, digital, and data analytics priorities; define technical requirements to deliver against said priorities
Be a strategic tech partner to Kite’s Commercial digital transformation
Drive adoption of tech solutions within Commercial through effective change management and communications
Business solution delivery:
Mobilize capabilities from across Kite IT and Gilead IT to enable delivery of tech solutions to Commercial
Own Commercial tech platforms & products, while leading e2e support and delivery
Lead roadmap for Commercial platforms, and sequencing and prioritization of backlogs
Lead IT investment governance process for Commercial tech investments
Support IT and business in building and prioritization of Kite’s IT project portfolio
Performance management and enablement:
Deliver against Kite IT’s talent and sourcing strategy
Enable Agile delivery of Commercial tech solutions
Support IT functions in ensuring compliance with key tech standards, and delivering against Kite’s architecture roadmap
Advanced degree (i.e. MD, PharmD, PhD) and 12+ years’ experience in Information Technology with business interaction and domain focus OR
Masters Degree and 12+ years’ experience in Information Technology with business interaction and domain focus OR
Bachelors Degree and 14+ years’ experience in Information Technology with business interaction and domain focus OR
High School Degree and 18+ years’ experience in Information Technology with business interaction and domain focus
Deep expertise in working with Commercial function in biotech space (patient assistance hubs, call center operations, sales force effectiveness & CRM, master data management, marketing automation, etc.)
2+ years working under a CIO / equivalent
Proficient with working with partners across various levels of IT and Commercial business
Recognized “Leader with Vision” with excellent executive communication skills, and commanding presence in discussions with senior leadership
Experienced in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and portfolio management
Ability to lead and manage team of IT professionals in an often-ambiguous environment
Knowledge of working in managed services delivery paradigm based on business outcomes
Work experience and strong knowledge of end-to-end IT software and systems solution delivery from idea conception, design, development and/or configuration, and transition into production support and maintenance
Knowledge and experience working with Salesforce Community Cloud & Service Cloud, Veeva suite, analytics platforms, non-personal promotion as well as other technologies supporting various aspects of the Commercial business.
Strong focus on process, continuous process improvement and quality to enable innovation
Ability to collaborate and fosters partnerships with business and technology colleagues
Proven track record of working in Agile (e.g. SAFe, Scrum, Kanban) and DevOps ways of working in the IT landscape
