SUMMARY

Part Time Sales Associate assists thrift Store Manager, Assistant Manager and Lead Sales Associate in all aspects of store operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Performs cash register operations, including programming registers, recording prices, subtotaling, collecting cash, checks or charges from customers and making change. Trains volunteers as needed.

Provide positive, helpful and superior customer service.

Available for flexible work hours.

Stocks racks and shelves and checks that prices are on items.

Prepares store for opening by insuring that store is clean and orderly. Assist with daily closing and clean-up.

Informs supervisor of needed supplies in store area.

Assists clients of agency with clothing and other needs through voucher system.

Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.

Assists in training, assigning and directing volunteers.

Assists with scheduling daily donation pickups as assigned.

Assists in donations area as needed.

May be required to sell some items to specialty stores as needed.

OTHER DUTIES

In accordance with the team philosophy of the agency, may routinely be requested to carry out or assist with other tasks in addition to the duties listed above.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years retail or merchandising experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute ratio and percent.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
