The Rapid Prototyping organization is to serve Bell’s Innovation and Program teams by transforming their designs into concept demo air vehicles, fabrication of risk reduction test articles, and collaborate with design teams beginning at project inception to accelerate project execution. The RP organization is comprised of four teams: Build Team, Rapid Prototyping Center, Experimental Tooling, and External Manufacturing (RP supply base for parts and assemblies not built in house).
This job requisition is for a position within External Manufacturing focused on composites commodities produced by various processes, from hand lay-up of prepreg to additive using Selective Laser Sintering. The candidate who applies for this job requisition has responsibility to perform and/or lead the initiatives listed below:
Primary Position Responsibilities:
Facilitate DFM at detail part and sub assembly level to ensure readily producible designs
Collaborate with the Design Teams and Build Team to reduce defects, rework or design changes
Manage part requests through producibility checks, process and supplier selection, and tracking of progression through the delivery to the requestor on time.
Manage external relationships with Rapid Prototyping supply base to ensure methods, procedures, and build aspects meets the requirements of the program execution plan
Responsible for expanding Rapid Prototyping supply base to meet current and future needs
Partner and collaborate with internal and industry-known Technical Subject Matter Experts
Proactively pursue the integration and implementation of new methods, procedures and processes are implemented.
Execution of external supply chain sources to meet Program schedule and requirements
Will be the onsite representative at the supplier to resolve technical challenges
Ensure air vehicle build methodology is incorporated at the supplier in support of next higher assembly
Develop current and future talent within the Rapid Prototyping Organization
Establish RP as the organization of choice for experimental part/assembly fabrication
Establish and foster relationships with Innovation, Military and Commercial peers
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering or relevant/related disciplines
All years of experience in composite design, processes, tooling & manufacturing will be considered
Manufacturing experience in both composite details and assemblies
Exposure to supplier development initiatives
Knowledge and utilization of Bell and industry process specifications
Exposure to CATIA and/or Enovia
In-field or MRB Experience, SAP familiarity, and understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) are a plus
