Army Installation Management Command Food Service Worker NA-04 in Fort Wainwright, Alaska


The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is defined as local commuting area. (Fort Wainwright and surrounding communities within 150 miles of the installation). Performs a variety of tasks having several steps or a sequence of tasks that requires attention to work operations in a kitchen or dining area following established procedures.

Primary duty is a meat carver in buffet lines during banquets, receptions, brunch, etc.

Sets up buffet lines, steam tables, dining room tables and side service stands with hot and cold food items including meats, vegetables, salads, desserts, bread, butter and beverages; replenishes as necessary.

Works under general supervision specific instructions are provided on new or unusual assignments.


Conditions of Employment


Ability to follow oral and written instructions and possess basic math skills. Ability to follow oral instructions and do assigned repetitive tasks. Must observe established safety procedures when using knives and other equipment in the performance of duties. Knowledge of food handling techniques for sanitation and safety purposes is required. Must have skill and knowledge to perform tasks involving several procedures and be able to concentrate on work assignments despite frequent interruptions and distractions. Must know basic food handling techniques, personal hygiene standards and safe work procedures. **Experience as a Food Service Worker desirable.
