Job Summary

AECOM is hiring 4th Year Millwright Apprentices to join our Suncor Fort Hills Maintenance team on site near Fort McMurray, Alberta. This is a full-time regular position.

Millwrights install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment in sites such as factories, production plants and recreational facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Describe components, operation and maintenance of frame, block and cylinders

  • Describe components, operation and maintenance of cylinder head and valve train assemblies

  • Describe components, operation and maintenance of fuel, induction, ignition and starting systems Describe components, operation and maintenance of exhaust, cooling, lubrication and ventilation systems

  • Demonstrate principles, installation, start-up, maintenance and repair procedures for steam turbines Describe principles, installation, start-up, maintenance and repair procedures for gas turbines

  • Describe machinery condition monitoring and analysis

  • Demonstrate alignment procedures for thermal growth and multi-machine alignment

  • Demonstrate operation, repair and maintenance for dynamic pumps

  • Demonstrate operation, repair and maintenance for positive displacement pumps

  • Demonstrate principles, inspection and replacement procedures for mechanical seals

  • Describe operation, maintenance and repair of fluid control valves

  • Demonstrate application, operation and maintenance of belt conveying systems

  • Describe application, operation and maintenance of roller and pneumatic conveying systems

Conditions of Employment for this position are:

  1. For positions that fall into the list of required positions within the AECOM Oil & Gas Background Check policy, qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, the role must complete a satisfactory pre-employment Background Check. This may consist of all or a combination of the following: Canadian Criminal Record check, an Employment Verification and/or an Education and Accreditation Verification.

  2. For positions that fall into the list of required positions within the AECOM Oil & Gas Alcohol & Drug (A&D) policy, qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, a position must provide evidence of a satisfactory Alcohol & Drug test in accordance with the Company's Alcohol & Drug Policy. In order to be valid, the test must have been conducted at the direction of AECOM - O&G Business Unit.

Minimum Requirements

  • Current Registered Millwright Apprentice

  • Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS-09 or 2020) Certification

  • Common Safety Orientation (CSO)

  • Aerial Work Platform

  • OSSA or Energy Safety Canada Certified Fall Arrest and/or Fall Protection

  • OSSA or Energy Safety Canada Certified Confined Space

  • Fit Test

  • Other safety ticket(s) and orientation(s) required, as per the project team

  • Driver’s License and a clean 5 year Driver’s Abstract
