Summary About the Position: This position is with the Army Reserve Aviation Command, Aviation Support Facility (ASF) Eustis East, Army Reserve Aviation Command located in Fort Eustis, Virginia. To learn more about minimum qualifications to join the Army Reserve, visit http://www.goarmy.com/reserve/jobs.html Responsibilities Repairing and rebuilding hydraulic cylinders and systems and pneumatic systems Testing pressure safety devices Repairing a variety of power support systems Servicing and repairing of air conditioning in vehicles Servicing of industrial and domestic reach-in and walk-in refrigerators Repairing electrical and transistorized systems in AC and DC applications Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Powered Support Systems Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Applicants must meet the screen out elements to be considered further. To meet the screen out elements, applicants should document experience in the following: troubleshooting and repairing a variety of power support systems and equipment; troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems and equipment; and servicing and repairing air conditioning and refrigeration units. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Screen OutAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc.Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentKNOWLEDGE OF EQUIPMENT ASSEMBLY, INSTALLATION, REPAIR, ETC. Physical effort: Performs work which involves frequent bending, reaching, crouching, standing and arm movement. Frequently works in awkward positions or cramped areas. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to about 50 pounds and lifts heavier items using jacks, hoists, or helpers. Working Conditions: Works inside or outside. Frequently exposed to drafts, changing temperature and loud noise. Works on parts or systems that are dirty and greasy and is frequently exposed to the possibility of receiving cuts, burns, bruises, strains, and electrical shock. Uses safety equipment such as protective eyeglasses, ear devices, hard hats, hard toe shoes, face masks, respirators, gloves and protective clothing. May occasionally be exposed to toxic refrigerants. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. Two year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
