Payroll and Benefits Specialist

job summary:

Our client is currently seeking a Payroll and Benefits Specialist for a 3+ month contract to hire opportunity located in Folsom, CA.

Special Notes:

Someone who has a minimum of 2 years of payroll AND benefits experience and has specifically worked within the "Ultimate Software - UltiPro" HRIS system.

SUMMARY

The Payroll and Benefits Specialist has an integral role in the payroll and benefit processes and is responsible for accurate and timely processing of the bi-weekly payroll ensuring that the Company is in compliance with federal and state laws and responsible for the administration of employee benefits. The Specialist maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Accurate and timely data entry and maintenance of active, new/re hired and terminated employee profiles, including benefit records

Process bi-weekly payroll within the payroll system including final checks as needed

Assist with the administration and implementation in payroll records of salary changes, added compensations, deductions, bonuses, PTO payouts, and benefits for employees

Review/confirm time entry for all employees

Analyze payroll issues and recommend corrective action

Assist with payroll reconciliations, transactions, reporting, stop payments and other operations

Assist with payroll, benefit and time sheet audit activities

Provides exceptional service to employees with questions or needs regarding payroll, benefits, policies, etc. Processes password resets and assists employees with the use of payroll and time keeping applications

Assists other team members with assigned responsibilities as needed

Management of benefits including: determining eligibility, providing enrollment information to employees, adding and deleting employee benefits with carrier and entering into payroll records

Writes and updates procedures as needed.

Assist with annual benefit carrier renewals

Assist with Cobra procedures and paperwork

Assist with 401k administration and audit

Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

One to two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to complete calculations and develop formulas

strong knowledge of HRIS system (UltiPro)

strong knowledge of time and attendance system (Kronos)

Knowledge of COBRA software (COBRA Solutions)

strong working knowledge of Excel and other Office programs

Ability to communicate well with employees and benefit plan carrier representatives

Knowledge of current payroll laws
