The successful Polymer Processing Engineer will lead process development efforts and technical knowledge gains in polymer forming areas other than injection molding. Deep expertise and experience in roto molding is required. Knowledge and experience in blown/cast film, thermoforming, 3D printing, laser welding and other joining techniques is advantageous. Injection molding background is also beneficial.
Work closely with new product development, program management and commercial team in identifying part and processing critical characteristics that will enable project progress and wins
Develop effective experimental processing solutions and evaluation methods to support new product and application development
Develop, document and provide training (internal and external) on polymer processing which enables increased project success rate.
Hands-on work on processing equipment, especially Rotomolding equipment.
Purse strong engagement with external customers and support field trials as needed.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Field of expertise: Minimum 5 years of experience in polymer processing methods (primarily Rotomolding, but also thermoforming, welding, extrusion, compounding and injection molding) with scope ranging from part/mold design to optimum machine operation and process control.
PhD, MS or BS Chemical/Plastics Engineering or related (Mechanical, Materials, Chemist, Polymer). Higher education requirement can be waived if applicant has demonstrated track record and significant hands-on experience (10+ years) in the required field of expertise.
Proficient with processing and structure-property relationships.
Ability to solve complex engineering plastics processing and part problems.
Ability to design, conduct experiments, analyze and communicate complex data and to conclude findings from experimental work.
Exceptional communications (oral and written) and teamwork focus. Demonstrated track record of working with external customers.
- Experience with laboratory settings and management a plus.
