The Adv. IT Specialist will be an advocate for Enterprise Network Services and will partner with business facing IT leads to drive change and adoption across organizations. Candidate must possess the acumen necessary to transform business challenges into business opportunities utilizing the latest proven technologies.
Studies and analyzes complex business problems and assists in deriving and evaluating alternative solutions.
Applies appropriate methodologies to ensure a timely and cost-effective solution to business problems. May provide guidance to less experienced specialists as situations require.
Participates in testing a system or solution prior to placing it in effect to ensure that it complies with all standards, and that all functions are working correctly.
Demonstrates a working understanding of other important information technology tools and utilizes such tools to enhance the quality of work performed or services provided.
Understands the controls and security requirements of a system; develops adequate controls/security for the system and learns the mechanics of implementing the controls/security method chosen.
Has the expertise needed to demonstrate the effectiveness of changes to the specialized systems that result in solving specific business problems. Recommends improvements to take advantage of technical changes.
Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems and replace faulty network hardware components when required.
Monitoring network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made.
Conferring with network users about solving existing system problems.
Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, VPN, QoS)
Perform network maintenance and system upgrades
Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
Adhere to architectural standards to ensure solutions are reliable, sustainable, and scalable
Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
Collaborate with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
Devise, plan, deploy, and improve wireless networks from the beginning to implementation by collaborating with vendors and network engineers.
Performs end-to-end troubleshooting of wireless, wired, and security infrastructures in support of wireless client connectivity.
Participates in wireless design and configuration standards with members of Network Engineering.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field
Minimum 5+ years IT experience in maintaining network systems
Effective communication skills (written and verbal) to properly articulate to management and other IT development partners.
