Inova Health Systems NURSE PRACTITIONER in FAIRFAX, Virginia
Performs high-quality clinical practices and effective patient management, under physician supervision, in accordance with state regulations, including primary and secondary specialty care in clinical and/or surgical practice settings. Demonstrates technical expertise by assisting physician with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Patient care duties may include education and research. Prescribes medications in accordance with state guidelines. Demonstrates teamwork by communicating effectively and working cooperatively with all members of the health care team. Displays respect for and appreciation for the contribution from all team members in order to foster positive working relationships. Participates in Quality/Best Practice initiatives by utilizing standards and guidelines for cost-effective care delivery in order to continuously improve patient care and enhance outcomes.
Experience Progressive clinical nursing experience Three to five years of clinical nursing experience as a RN or NP experience
Education Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Bachelors in Nursing and Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice or graduate of a post masters certificate program for nurse practioners, or certificare from an education program that is accredited by the Council of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs/Schools, American College of Nurse Midwives, American Association of Colleges of Nursing of the National League for Nursing.
Training Specific to speciality BLS; ACLS FOR CRITICAL CARE Specific to speciality (e.g. ACLS, NALS, PALS, ENCC, ATLS, NRP
Certification Certification for advanced practice Certificate in area of specialty
Licensure Licensed or eligible for licensing as a nurse practitioner in the state of employment RN Compact License (depending on State of primary residence) and a license (or eligibility for) as a nurse practitioner in the state of employment AND a "Prescriptive Authority for Licensed Nurse Practitioners Practice Agreement" signed by sponsoring/supervising physician(s), AND a written "Scope of Practice/Protocol" signed by the supervising physician, AND "Prescriptive Authority License" AND "Drug Enforcement Administration License" (if prescribing controlled substances)
