Sofina Foods Inc. Slice/Pack Supervisor in Etobicoke, Ontario

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Slice/Pack Supervisor is responsible for the efficiency and effectiveness of manufacturing operations within the departments and ensures that issues are handled appropriately using the standard communication plan. The Supervisor provides strong, values based leadership and direction to the hourly employees.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Maximizes production personnel capabilities and implement procedures to improve efficiency;

  • Manages the first contact with the hourly employees on any quality issues and escalating any issue to management that they deem appropriate;

  • Responsible for meeting and reporting on daily production targets;

  • Completing the daily production schedule for their department;

  • Continuous improvement on manufacturing processes and efficiencies;

  • Embraces and promotes Sofina’s Blueprint in all areas.

  • Performs inventory control


  • Post-secondary education diploma in management studies, food science, engineering or equivalent experience is preferred;

  • 3 – 5 years of management/supervisor experience is necessary;

  • Knowledge and compliance of CFIA regulations;

  • Knowledge of OHSA and Regulations as it pertains to the work;

  • WSIB Certification Training and First Aid Training is an asset;

  • Excellent problem solving skills;

  • The ideal candidate must have strong supervisory skills, people skills, strong communication and listening skills and a team oriented attitude;

  • Applies best practices and seeks out opportunities to improve processes;

  • Experience in a unionized meat or food processing environment is considered an asset;

  • Strong adherence to meeting productivity, quality, and safety requirements;

  • A strong communicator, both written and oral, who is confident, decisive, able to deal with conflict and achieve win-win results.
