Parsons Corporation Systems Security Engineer SME (Program Protection Planning) in El Segundo, California

Are you ready to put your Systems Security Engineering and Program Protection Planning expertise to work on complex projects in support of an exciting space-focused mission? Are you great with people and have a track record of delivering secure systems to satisfy the customer’s mission?

Parsons is now hiring an experienced Systems Security Engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME) with the desire to work on creating innovative, practical solutions to support cyber security and space projects. You will be responsible for the security and protection of key government systems.

We need our Systems Security Engineers to exhibit exceptional communication, analytical and organizational skills while being versatile and enthusiastic when working in a highly flexible team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Systems Security Engineer SME position include the following:

  • Collaborates with the other systems security engineers in order to inform the program protection analyses and modify the security protection measures to meet program needs.

  • Identifies security vulnerabilities and needed security protection measures.

  • Defines, implements and monitors security protection measures, and additional security requirements (i.e. awareness training, reporting, etc.).

  • Leads the development of the Program Protection Plan for government systems.

  • Identifies Critical Program Information (CPI) and Critical Components (CC) while developing a Program Protection Plan (PPP) to ensure secure, and reliable operation of government systems.

  • Ensures Systems Security requirements are identified and include in program documents.

  • Implements Systems Engineering best practices while balancing cost, schedule, performance and risk to ensure the development and delivery of secure and resilient capabilities.

  • Ensures Systems Security Engineering Requirements that satisfy protection needs are implemented through the systems engineering process and tested through formal test events.

  • Documents security approaches in the Program Protection Plan

  • Updates Program Protection Plan as a result of changes in the system.

  • Assesses emerging threats and incorporates security review/response in requirements/design.

  • Conducts and leads program protection analyses for program information, system information, trusted systems and networks.

  • Designs, develops, and implements leading-edge analytical and technical methodologies, tools, and policies/standards to ensure a cyber-secure environment for customer organizations.

  • Implements security measures including intrusion detection and prevention, software and system security protection through application of secure design protocols and reverse engineering, and data assurance.

  • Performs network modeling, analysis, planning and may be responsible for researching and recommending network and data communications technologies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret (TS) clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility

  • Bachelor's degree in Software, Computer, Systems, Electrical, Information Technology Engineering or related technical

  • 10+ years of related experience in cyber, military, computer system, intelligence, and/or space systems is required.

  • Must have experience leading the security direction for complex government projects.

  • Knowledge of systems analysis, strategic planning methodologies.

  • Experience performing the responsibilities of the position listed above.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Cyber security certifications: CISSP, OSCP, CISM, CEH, GSEC.

  • Extensive experience supporting the space, cyber, and intelligence communities.

  • Experience directly supporting Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC).

  • Experience developing Program Protection Plans.

  • Experience identifying Critical Program Information and Critical Components of weapon, maintenance, and training systems.

Must be able to obtain, maintain and/or currently possess a security clearance.
