Thermo Fisher Scientific Sr. Competitive Intelligence Manager in Eindhoven, Netherlands

The Competitive Intelligence (CI) Marketing Manager is a member of the Material and Structural Analysis (MSD) Divisional marketing team. This position is responsible for gathering and analyzing competitive data to distill into actionable insights and impactful messages for strategy, marketing and sales. The CI Manager will use the intel to drive winning marketing campaigns and product strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

Gather Insights

  • Keep abreast of industry trends and activities in relevant markets.

  • Use competitor announcements, news, financial and industry analyst reports to build a detailed understanding of competitors' strategies, activities, and performance.

  • Gather macro strategic views of the market and extract trends / insights.

  • Actively collaborate with Strategy, Product, Commercial (Sales and Service) and Regional teams to capture customer insights from the field.

  • Conduct primary and secondary research activities, including war-gaming like activities, to collect insights.

  • Proactively mine external sources and internal information to uncover trends, emerging threats and opportunities for the business.

Synthesize

  • Consolidate findings to derive internal strategic insights about customers and competitors, report findings and develop implications.

  • Use the insights to determine likely course of action that competitors will take and develop and execute competitive response strategies in collaboration with the business.

  • Lead competitive landscape analysis for evaluating partnership, collaboration and inorganic activities.

  • Support key corporate initiatives, such as competitive displacement campaigns, with market and competitive analysis.

  • Use the data to derive innovative solutions.

Disseminate

  • Share actionable recommendations.

  • Maintain competitive materials and resources and push to colleagues in a well-organized system.

  • Manage external research vendors as needed.

  • Deliver training sessions.

  • Adherence to all relevant internal Thermo Fisher guidelines and ethical standards.

How will you get here?

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required, preferably in Finance or Strategy. MBA preferred.

Experience

  • Proven experience in a competitive intelligence or related market analytics role.

  • Project management experience.

  • Capital equipment experience would be plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Validated primary intelligence collection and reporting skills.

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Solid understanding of marketing principles, techniques and processes.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally

  • Ability to comfortably interact with executive leadership.

  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment with limited oversight
