Virginia Mason Medical Medical Lab Technician in Edmonds, Washington

JOB DESCRIPTION Job Number: 210065 Department: VM Edmonds - Primary Care Hours: M-Th 1230-9pm. Friday 1030-7pmIn this role you will provide information for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease by conducting medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses at our Edmonds Regional Medical Center.Determine normal and abnormal components of body fluids by conducting chemical and/or microscopic analyses of blood, urine, spinal fluids, and other specimens.Report on technological findings by collecting, analyzing, summarizing information and communicating notifiable results.Ensure operation of analyzers and other laboratory equipment by calibrating; completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting, calling for service support, maintaining operational inventories, evaluating new equipment and techniques.Provide medical technology information and support by responding to questions and requests from other healthcare providers and leadership.Conserve laboratory resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.Maintain professional and technical knowledge. This may be accomplished by: Attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies and participation in competency assessment.Maintain inter- and intradepartmental work flow by fostering a spirit of cooperation. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing additional related tasks as needed.Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. A newly graduated Medical Laboratory Technician may be hired with the requirement that if they do not pass an accredited Registry Exam for Medical Laboratory Technician within 6 months of hire, their employ
