UnitedHealth Group Senior Product Manager (Prior Authorization) - Telecommute in Eden Prairie, Minnesota

The Senior Product Manager will shape our Prior Authorization offerings, serving as the prior authorization business lead and subject matter expert, defining products and pricing along with go to market strategies and stakeholder experience – a key driver of our future success.

Working with cross-functional and cross-enterprise partners, you will manage the existing product portfolio, identify new market opportunities, ensure alignment across the organization, and drive execution. To be successful in this role, you will need strong business leadership, the ability to think analytically, influence myriad stakeholders from clinical to operations, communicate effectively across multiple levels of the organization, and drive results in a highly-matrixed environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-functional and cross-enterprise teams in the development and execution of the product roadmap, including: market opportunity, target customer profiles, value propositions, client and consumer experience, and financial modeling to justify potential resource investments

  • Identify new market opportunities, optimize internal programs and assets, and partner with key internal stakeholders for alignment and support to bring the roadmap to market

  • Serve as the product subject matter expert to all internal and external stakeholders

  • Partner with analytics to identify opportunities and establish value metrics for the Total Cost of Care initiatives

  • Partner with sales and account management in support of key client activity and the development of sales and market strategies

  • Partner with IT in an agile development environment to translate business requirements into technical requirements and ensure deliverables meet initial expectations

  • Monitor day to day performance of Prior Authorization offerings

  • Continuously mindful of market, competitive, and operational data to identify opportunities for product enhancements and overall growth

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • 7+ years of product management and/or product development experience

  • Health care industry experience

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with and influence cross-functional teams in a matrix environment

  • Experience partnering with senior leaders in sales and account management to develop product growth strategies

  • Experience partnering with clinical and operational teams to improve product performance and end-user experience

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization

  • 7+ years of proficiency with MS Office applications

  • Occasional travel as required

  • You will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s US Telecommuting Policy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree

  • Pharmacy benefit management (PBM) experience

  • Prior authorization experience

  • Experience partnering with IT and technology teams – familiarity with Agile, developing business requirements, and helping translate to technical requirements

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization
