The Department of Finance in the Eli Broad College of Business seeks a talented individual to serve as the Director of Insurance and Risk Management (IRM) from July 15, 2020 through July 14, 2021. The position will be responsible for overseeing and supporting the IRM program including administrative duties, student admissions, fundraising and alumni support. The Director will serve as the primary contact for employers and corporate partners and provide career and professional service support to students including internship and post-graduate employment opportunities. The Director will also teach a three-credit course in the minor. Duties include:
Oversee and support the IRM minor program (including setting the strategic direction based on industry trends and student interests).
Build student interest in the IRM minor (conversing with college and high school students, MSU admissions advisors, Honors College and Broad College academic and career advisors, college faculty and staff, etc.).
Manage the student admissions process (including applicant evaluation).
Teach a three-credit course in the minor.
Assist with job placement (provide placement and career advice to students and coordinate with the placement center to provide resume reviews and mock interviews).
Oversee IRM minor promotional activities (developing website content and coordinating with the Broad College Marketing & Communications team to promote IRM activities and achievements).
Engage with insurance industry executives to provide job placement and business-development opportunities.
Collaborate with Broad College development and alumni relations in fundraising.
Participate on college and university committees and on campus activities as appropriate.
Bachelors -Finance or Accounting or a related field
Three years or more of financial/insurance-services industry experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated interest and ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external constituents including students, alumni, and employers. Strong oral and written communication skills.
CPA or Master's degree
Previous expeirence in student or client advising
Experience in creating a budget and monitoring expenses accordingly.
