Pratt & Whitney’s Digital Technology organization is seeking a LAN / WLAN Engineering Manager who has a proven track record of developing and maintaining processes, policies, standards, systems and measurements that help our organization to effectively implement and manage business local area networks worldwide. These networks enable activities at more than 160 locations around the globe.
As a LAN / WLAN Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for interfacing with and managing activities of both parent company Corporate staff and outsourced vendor partners for new/changed implementations, ongoing LAN and WLAN operations and handling advanced support issues. Ultimately, you will be responsible for the functional management of our LANs and WLANs, the delegation of tasks, and the resolution of network issues. Pratt & Whitney’s network engineering and operations is highly outsourced, putting a premium on vendor management, oversight, governance and delivery through other actors.
To ensure success as a LAN / WLAN Engineering Manager, you should have extensive experience working with enterprise networks, high-level managerial skills, and practiced project management skills. A Top-class LAN / WLAN Engineering Manager ensures the collective networking team of employees and contractors performs as a cohesive unit, maintaining the stability and performance of the network.
Responsibilities Include:
Collaborating with Corporate architects to design and implement functional company LANS and WLANs
Overseeing the Installation and configuration of LAN and WLAN hardware
Ensuring that network security measures are implemented according to policy and requirements
Ensuring that network assets are logged in the asset inventory and relevant configuration details are specified for them
Service owner for Virtual Private Network (VPN) access
Acting as liaison between Corporate and vendor/partner resources
Acting as liaison between Global Infrastructure Services and site locations for LAN and WLAN-related activities
Acting as technical advisor to manufacturing shop floor network segmentation activities
Maintaining visibility into network stability, performance and utilization
Initiate capacity upgrade and issue remediation projects as required
Maintaining visibility into asset lifecycle status and patching status and hygiene
Dealing with escalated support issues
Maintaining visibility into LAN and WLAN-related project milestones and status
Providing relevant status to the heads of Infrastructure Operations and Global Infrastructure Services
Skills:
Advanced knowledge of LAN and WLAN technologies, products and operating systems
Knowledge of networking hardware including switches, routers and firewalls
Familiarity with communication and routing protocols
Familiarity with LAN and WLAN management and analysis tools
Working- level understanding of the Purdue reference model for Industrial Control Systems (ICS)
Demonstrated technical leadership and collaboration skills
Technical analysis and problem-solving skills
Effective written and oral communication skills
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience supporting enterprise LANs and WLANs in large-scale heterogeneous environments
Working in highly regulated environments
History with Cisco, AT&T and other LAN and WLAN technologies and equipment
Possess networking-related certifications (e.g. CCNA, CCDA, etc.)
Experience with ITIL processes execution (Incident, Change, Problem, Event/Fault, etc.) in an IT Service Management ecosystem
B.S., B.A. or equivalent work experience required
