Pay: $24.47 - $28.28 per hour, DOQ

Seasonal/temporary; not benefit eligible

The City of Eagan is hiring Water Fitness Instructors for Cascade Bay!

Water Fitness Instructors are responsible for providing class participants with a well-designed, physically safe program that serves the needs of all attending. This is a seasonal position beginning in June and ending in August. Classes are held in the morning, during the week and on the weekend. Cascade Bay is an outdoor facility, requiring work in all types of weather conditions.

Essential Position Functions:

  • Design water fitness classes

  • Maintain a dynamic and personable attitude while instructing class participants

  • Use proper terminology and language while teaching and cueing classes

  • Prepare all teaching material and equipment prior to the start of the class as well as return all equipment at the end of class

  • Track attendance after each class by recording total number of participants

  • Complete injury reports as needed

  • Interpret and enforce all Cascade Bay policies for guests and staff

  • Communicate and work cooperatively with other aquatic staff, including lifeguards to maintain a safe class, as well as respond to any emergency situations

  • Report problems, concerns, and suggestions to management

  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings and in-service trainings

  • Regularly swim, stand, walk, bend, talk loudly, and hear/listen

  • Move or shift up to 25 lbs

  • Occasionally climb, balance, reach, run, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, and crouch

  • React quickly and spontaneously

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Previous experience teaching group water fitness classes in a fitness center, health club, community center, or equivalent

  • Experience working with and around people of all ages and fitness levels

  • Ability to react quickly and efficiently in a health emergency situation

Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills

  • Personable, positive attitude

  • Knowledge of safety precautions and procedures applicable to position
