The Staff Hardware Electrical Engineer will report to the Hardware Electrical Engineering Manager and be responsible for developing next generation home automation products as well as supporting existing product lines. The Staff Hardware Electrical Engineer will define requirements, detail specifications, develop hardware with system level/holistic approach to optimize performance/cost from input to output. The successful individual will demonstrate teamwork with existing cross functional team and design to high performance standards with accuracy and consistency.
Develop and test analog/digital mixed signal circuit designs for home control systems including controller, lighting, audio, security, networking, etc.
Create wireless as well as wired solutions
Build products and ensuring product passes all regulatory certifications for both US and international markets
Design robust, maintainable, elegant, and lasting solutions to meet a wide variety of requirements and feature sets while working closely with product management, mechanical, firmware, operations, and other engineering groups to deliver top-quality products to customers
Balance a variety of tasks related to: requirements gathering, design, review, testing and troubleshooting
Assure a high standard of quality in your own work and in the work of others on your team via good design principles, process improvements, safety, clean designs, smart testing and review practices
Collaborate directly with JDM global partners to communicate and resolve any technical issues during the specification and development cycles
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years industry experience in electrical circuit design and development; OR 9+ years industry experience in electrical circuit design and development
Strong understanding of discrete circuitry and physics fundamentals; circuit theory, simulation and power electronics
Knowledge of processor architecture, various communications protocols such as I2C, UART, SPI, etc. FPGA experience is a plus
Experience using Altium CAD tool, circuit simulation tools, schematic capture, numerical computing environments and integrated development environments
Experience using laboratory test & measurement equipment
Experience designing and releasing products that meet US and international compliance and safety regulations with a thorough understanding of conducted and radiated emissions and safety standards
Experience with switching power supplies including low-power and battery supplies in portable units
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering
Knowledge of digital audio protocols including I2S and S/PDIF
Knowledge of Class D audio amplification, Internet of Things (IoT) and CEDIA market
