Network Surveyor (FTTP)
Airband is seeking an experienced Network Surveyor to join our expanding business. We are a family established Internet Service Provider bringing broadband to rural areas through a mixture of technologies. Having secured several £multi million projects, and with the view of acquiring more, we need a PIA Surveyor on a permanent basis to help deliver on these projects. You will be working on major new projects as Airband extends its networks in specific geographic regions.
The purpose of the role is to report to the project manager and undertake all works associated with and including the surveying and planning of optimal fibre optic (FTTP/FTTH) routes for the client. In time this may include the organisation and management of multiple operatives and work streams.

The main duties include the responsibility for the following:
Carry out detailed survey of the built environment and capture the most feasible and cost-effective solution for new build in accordance with the specifications.
Attending sites to determine the best installation route for fibre optic network lines.
Identifying the various deployment methods available.
Understanding and surveying existing fibre optic network infrastructure including ducts and poles and potentials for upgrades.
Interpreting telecom design routes.
Completing survey documentation packs: ISP pathways, drawings, address listings, confirmation pictures, utility plans, PIA availability, environmental factors and traffic management requirements.
Carrying out area surveys to ascertain whether any obstructions will prevent a successful installation.
Meeting with the project and planning teams to resolve any design or route issues preventing the project receiving approval to move forward.
Identifying customer networks and reviewing proposed methods of construction to ensure that all requirements are compliant.
Completing all necessary steps to ensure that wayleaves, permits, re-routes, timescales and agreements are identified and reported correctly.
Estimating civils works for FTTP/ FTTH installs where required.
Identifying any potential SED or specific Traffic Management requirements. Also determine at planning stage any specific wayleave requirements.
Skills knowledge and aptitude:
Excellent Microsoft Office skills
Excellent communication skills at all levels
Ability to read CATV or telecom construction blueprints
Understanding of routing of telecom cabling from point to point
Understanding of logistics involved in all civils work inherent in network installation
Understanding of legislative and regulation requirements, including but not limited to, wayleaves, permits and associated agreements
Knowledge of NRSWA
Knowledge of or experience working in Openreach
Experience using GIS platforms.
Ability to use a smartphone, a tablet or a laptop with a Geographical Information System (GIS).
Valid Accreditation, Signing, Lighting and Guarding.
Openreach PIA Duct & PIA Pole Survey Valid Accreditations. A9, S2, A8, S5 S11.
Up-to-date certification in Manual Handling & First Aid at Work.
Able to follow design schematics and management direction.
Work outdoors in challenging field environments. For example, in bad weather conditions.
