Job Description

This is a non-merit position with the Iowa Secretary of State .

This position performs various outreach projects to educate the public about the Iowa Safe at Home program. Iowa Safe at Home is an address confidentiality program for survivors of domestic violence, sexual abuse, assault, stalking, and trafficking. Strong communication and customer service skills will be required for this position.

Duties will include outreach to community members across the state through phone, email, mailers and newsletters, schedule meetings for informational trainings/discussions and round tables about the program, and other administrative tasks. It is necessary for this individual to be comfortable communicating with organizations, agencies and citizens via phone, e-mail, and written media.

Additional duties will include processing participant mail, applications, and other correspondence, and answering program questions.

Confidentiality is crucial for this position as they will be working with a program containing sensitive data and working with program participants and applicants.

Selectives

561 Social Media Management

Applicant should demonstrate six months’ employment experience working with various types of social media including all of the following: Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, Instagram and YouTube.

AND

880 Marketing

6 months' experience, 12 semester hours, or a combination of both in marketing. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of the general methods, principles and practices of marketing, including professional-level experience in an area or in areas of marketing, e.g., promotions, public relations, event planning, advertising or other marketing-related discipline.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

1) Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in journalism, public relations, graphic design, or communications.

2) Four years of full-time work experience in planning and developing content for dissemination through traditional media (newspapers, publications, radio, and television), websites, social media, and/or public speaking.

3) A total of four years of education (as described in number one) and/or full-time experience (as described in number two), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work equals one year of full-time.

Additional Qualification Requirements
