Our Special Education Teacher will provide special education, pre-vocational and daily living training to children and adolescents (10 classrooms) with developmental disabilities and emotional/behavioral disorders receiving services in Laradon?s School. This position will also be responsible for the day to day supervision and mentoring of the classroom Paraprofessionals. Our classrooms are small with a focus on 1:1 and 1:2 or 3 where Special Education Teachers have the ability to make a difference in the lives of students.
How you will make a difference?
Demonstrate a relentless drive to improve the minds, characters & lives of students
Provide an optimum classroom environment and learning experience through a clear and consistent management system and strong student rapport
Facilitate meetings with family and/or guardian and team in the development of IEP(?Individualized Education Program?)
Coordinate trans-disciplinary program assessments
Participate in the case management process, as needed
Facilitate and monitor activities in keeping with IEP goals for designated caseload
Coordinate schedule of classroom Paraprofessionals
Develop appropriate curriculum and corresponding lesson plans with great flexibility and autonomy for students with significant cognitive and behavioral needs
Supervise the work and classroom instruction of Paraprofessionals including daily planning, education of students? needs and progress
Knowledge of behavior support plans, crisis intervention techniques, and proactive/preventative techniques including physical management and positive reinforcement
Advise in the development of the IEP with a team & facilitate activities in keeping with IEP goals
Maintain files and appropriate paperwork including IEPs, data tracking, employee performance reviews, etc
Participate and collaborate in meetings with other disciplines such as speech therapy, occupational therapy and applied behavior analysis on student success and safety

What you need to know?
- As Laradon is a small employer and employees work in a collaborative and team environment, our school employees must be physically present in the office to perform the different job functions. Additionally, as a service provider, our instructional methods under our services model require the work to be performed on campus.

Passion -Experience working with students with developmental disabilities and/or emotional/behavioral disorders
Brains - Current Colorado Teaching Certification with Special Education Generalist and Elementary Education endorsement or ability to enter an Alternative License program or apply for a Special Education Temporary Authorization (SETA)
Influencer - Two years teaching experience, preferred
Mindset ? Positive, resilient and ?can do? attitude
Safe on wheels ? Responsible, reliable driver with a valid and clean driving license
Super strength - Able to exert/lift up to 50 pounds of force
