Job Summary/Basic Function

In support of this mission, the WSRI Software Developer 2 will perform research and technology software development activities in support of WSU/ARC grants and contracts.
In this position the software developer must promote transparency at all times, always act ethically, promote and ensure compliance, collaborate across WSU, cultivate our people as our greatest asset, and create an environment that supports innovation and inclusive behaviors.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field
3 years’ of experience
Experience with an Agile Development Environment
Experience w/ Programming Languages: C#, C++, Java, HTML
Experience w/ Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF)
Experience w/ User Interface (UI) development
MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Related Field
Experience with AFSIM
Experience with Open Mission Systems (OMS)
Experience with Communication Networks (such as Link-16 or Cursor on Target)
Essential Functions and percent of time
40% Develop software to support research and User Interface (UI) development needs. Actively participate in developing computational system requirements based on project needs, develop algorithm designs based on requirements, rapidly implement algorithm designs into functioning software prototype code; efficiently and effectively document the development process and the results
15% Provide analysis, evaluation, and recommendations designed to promote generalizability, effectiveness and scalability of UI algorithms and other software tools.
15% Interface with researchers, systems engineers and scientists to provide data evaluation, simulation and testing tools in high-fidelity software development environments.
Moderate Travel: Around 2-3 weeks a year.
Special contract terms and conditions of employment will apply. Length of contract is one year, renewable, contingent upon funding.

Essential Functions and percent of time (cont'd): 15% Design, construct, and configure research and development algorithms focused on supporting research and development tasks, as well as operational work environments. Learn and configure infrastructure tools that support developed functionality. 15% Participate in project-related analysis and evaluation efforts. Support the development of research reports and presentations to support project reviews, technology transitions and dissemination of fundamental research.
