Leidos Space Systems Engineer in Dayton, Ohio
Leidos is hiring a Space Systems Engineer with strong experience in satellites and knowledge of foreign spacecraft systems to support the National Air and Space Intelligence Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Candidate must be eligible to obtain a TS/SCI; US citizenship is required. All work is onsite.
The successful candidate will research multiple foreign spacecraft on Team Leader-assigned systems; to include static and dynamic characteristics (e.g., external configuration, layout and location of internal subsystems, antenna and solar panel motion, construction techniques, and materials descriptions).
This individual will collaborate with a team of military, government, and other contractors to achieve high confidence answers to problems of interest. The candidate will work independently and demonstrate effective writing/verbal communication skills.
The engineer will perform technical research on foreign satellite systems, subsystems, and components and assess their capabilities.
The engineer will aid NASIC in developing an understanding of in-depth technical details of individual subsystem, components, and to improve the fidelity of satellite design products and body-of-knowledge. Satellite components to be researched and assessed include attitude determination & control sensors and actuators; payload (sensors); structures; propulsion; electrical power; thermal control; tracking, telemetry, & command; and other miscellaneous components. In cases of unknown components, making a best estimation of what would be used.
Research and advise on system specs and details of components of multiple foreign spacecraft systems
Highly knowledgeable of the functioning of satellite systems
Research components or entire vehicles
Produce high confidence answers to problems of interest on space systems
*Candidate must be eligible to obtain a TS/SCI; US citizenship is required
*BS or Engineering degree and 4+ years of experience OR MS with 2+ yrs of experience. Candidates with space hardware experience preferred
*Ability to work with engineers who are generating 3D CAD models of space systems
- Strong analytical and communication skills and ability to work individually and with teams
*Active TS/SCI clearance
Knowledge of electrical space avionics and antenna systems.
Mechanical understanding of space systems
