JOB SUMMARY

Battelle’s Advanced Mission Solutions (AMS) Business Line is seeking a Program Manager: System Development, Modernization and Prototyping to build, shape, and lead hardware/system/product design, development, fabrication, production and sustainment and to manage a product portfolio of sensors, avionics, and other military hardware.

The PM will direct day-to-day execution of program activities, including management of matrixed project teams spread across multiple business lines. The PM will build upon current programs to secure new projects, maintain an executable technology roadmap to guide internal investment, orchestrate market engagements, and build the program infrastructure to grow into larger markets. The PM will develop recognizable, thematic product lines with emphasis on operationalizing emerging technologies for military and commercial markets.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing comprehensive projects/programs in hardware/system/product life cycle development, and managing a product portfolio of sensors, avionics, and other military hardware. Leads conceptual design, detailed design, prototyping, fabrication, and testing of technologies and products.

  • Leads the program team with ultimate responsibility for meeting cost, schedule, quality, and technical/contractual performance across a portfolio of programs. Leads development and refinement of the program Work Breakdown Structure to a level sufficient to identify all the work required for successful project completion.

  • Primary point of contact for Customer and voice of the organization to Customer on existing and follow-on programs.

  • Collaborates across internal organization with multi-disciplined engineering teams to develop and execute projects/programs. Continuously assesses strength of team and makes changes as required.

  • Prepares and presents presentations to internal management and to internal and/or external customers to provide reviews and updates on technical aspects, cost, and schedule. This includes periodic program reviews (monthly & quarterly).

  • Interacts with senior leadership to make decisions, manage risk, and influence investment activities that affect the long-term viability of the business.

  • Develops and manages a business plan that includes short/mid/long-term goals tied to revenue, products, projects, features, and markets.

  • Assists the Business Development Team in development and execution of the sales and marketing plans.

  • Executes as a leader on proposal efforts. Collaborates with the Business Development staff to establish overall proposal strategies and themes which clearly differentiates Battelle from other potential providers of service. Generates documentation (white papers, proposals) required to secure new business.

  • Impacts contract negotiation activities and has a strong working knowledge of contractual issues relative to the project being managed relevant to scope of the work and scheduling and subcontracts.

  • Assists in developing an Intellectual Property portfolio that protects novel ideas, generates long-term revenue, and establishes technology differentiators.

THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering program with ABET-accreditation.

  • Direct program management experience managing multiple hardware/system/product design, development, fabrication, production, and sustainment for varying complexity.

  • At least 5 years of project/program management experience with DoD programs.

  • At least 10 years of experience with hardware/system/product design, development, fabrication, and production.

  • Experience generating proposals, plans, procedures, and reports.

  • Proficiency in planning and tracking projects using Program Management software.

  • Must be a US Citizen with the willingness/ability to obtain a DoD clearance.

  • Must be willing to travel up to 20% as required.

THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED

  • Master’s Degree in an engineering program with ABET-accreditation

  • Experience and/or familiarity with the US Army Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVCS) and AFRL

  • 15+ years of total experience with hardware/system/product design, development, fabrication, and production.

  • Current Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

  • Familiarity with Configuration Control and Configuration Management

  • Experience with Risk Management tools and processes

  • Experience with sensors, avionics, unmanned platforms, and infrastructure

  • Experience with EVMS practices
