Wehner Multifamily Property Auditor in Dallas, Texas
The Property Auditor requires the interpretation of existing programs into actionable operations or activities. This individual will apply professional knowledge in the execution of assigned duties and responsibilities as well as may assist in the management of property staff. They will have independence and discretion in decisions that affect his/her work, as well as influencing the work of others. This individual will develop and implement concepts, recommendations, and creative solutions to problems. They will also manage functions, enforce policies, and be responsible for operational execution. The Property Auditor position is a corporate level position that will report directly to the Executive Vice President of Operations. This position requires 50% travel.
Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The duties and responsibilities include the following, though other duties may be assigned:
Perform operational policy and procedure audits of apartment community leasing offices, convey audit findings through reports to upper management, teach training classes, investigate theft, and handle special projects as needed.
Audit areas include, but are not limited to, lease files, accounts payables, move-outs, petty cash/purchase cards, write-offs, prepays, payroll, cash management, product quality, staff presentation, financial data transactions, etc.
Ensures compliance with established internal control procedures by examining records, reports, operating practices, and documentation.
Communicate with the auditee and transcribe information obtained into a standard work-paper formt.
Prepares narratives, analyses, process flows, tests of transactions, and other supporting documentation to support findings.
Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
Oversee balance sheet reconciliations with follow-up and corrective action to resolve discrepancies.
Provide technical support when a computer, printer, scanner issues arise onsite at properties.
Shop future properties and visit rent comps to analyze market rents for the operating forecast.
Walk vacant units on our properties and report on vacancy and condition of units.
Perform lease audits for our due diligence of properties our investors have interest in purchasing.
Support budget and forecasting activities.
Work in conjunction with Regional Operations Manager on all issues found during property audits to ensure timely resolution.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
Experience with Resman, strongly preferred
Be willing to travel up to 50% of the time in Texas and Oklahoma
High School Diploma
2-4 years of Property Management Experience in Multifamily, required
