The Medical Transcriptionist is a vital member of the medical services team. The Medical Transcriptionist is responsible for transcribing all medical notes, encounters, and orders, maintaining confidentiality and complying with HIPAA laws ensuring the safety and well-being of persons served/clients as they go through the rehabilitation process.


  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Certificate from Medical Transcription Training Program preferred but not required

  • Continued employment status will be contingent upon satisfactory completion of a criminal background investigation.


  • Schedule persons served/client encounters for residential programs.

  • Transcribe all medical notes, encounters, and orders.

  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA laws.

  • Schedule all appointments with physicians and mental health providers

  • Coordinate refills and new scripts with the staff physician.

  • Check drug test results with office staff when necessary.

  • Attend regular staff meetings and Treatment Team.

  • Participate in random drug testing as requested.

  • Communicate with Medical Director.

  • Follow the chain of command with any issues within the residential or outpatient center.

  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality related to financial and persons served/client information.

  • Attention to detail and organization.

  • Ability to prioritize work and work related responsibilities.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Complete other tasks assigned by management.

  • Create a safe and healthy environment for persons served/clients.
