UPMC Carpenter (FT days) in Coudersport, Pennsylvania
UPMC Cole in Coudersport is looking for a full-time carpenter to perform advanced carpenter work necessary for the building, renovation, maintenance and repair of UPMC buildings and facilities.
Keeps abreast of new developments in the field and actively partakes in related training and educational programs. Maintains effective communication with Facilities Engineering, contractors, vendors and other medical center personnel. Demonstrates Hamot's commitment to Service Excellence by understanding the needs of patients, their families, physicians and co-workers and doing what is required the first time, every time by being responsible, sensitive, accurate, timely, coordinated and thorough.
Performs advanced carpentry and masonry construction and renovation from engineering drawings and sketches. Maintains inventory, compiles materials needed for assigned work, cares for and maintains assigned medical center tools and equipment; serves as leader of assigned projects. Designs, constructs and installs custom made wood and laminated casework. Adapts metal cabinets as required. Repairs and maintains all carpentry and masonry items or other duties related to, but not limited to, the maintenance preventative maintenance (P.M.) of doors, windows, chairs, etc. Instructs and works with Carpenters level I and II.
High School graduate or equivalent with one year of vocational training.
Five years of experience in a related field.
Two years of experience may be acceptable in lieu of formal training.
Must be able to read schematic drawings and blueprints. Knowledge of building codes and procedures as they pertain to hospital construction.
