Minimum/Required Qualifications PhD in the atmospheric sciences or a closely related discipline by the start of the employment. Strong scholarly potential and commitment to scientific methods and discipline demonstrated by a record of peer-reviewed publications commensurate with academic rank. Clearly defined research agenda commensurate with academic rank. Potential for establishing an externally funded research program, demonstrated by the articulation of compelling scientific goals and proposed methods to achieve those goals. Demonstrated ability or potential for developing and teaching courses in climate science, meteorology, or atmospheric science at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Commitment to student success in undergraduate and graduate programs. Potential for mentoring undergraduate students, graduate students, and post-doctoral scholars. Commitment to educational equity in a multicultural setting and to advancing the participation of underrepresented identities. Proficiency in oral and written English. A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity. Position Duties 50% ' Teaching and Advising: Teach and develop high quality undergraduate and graduate courses in atmospheric and climate sciences. Mentor and advise undergraduates, graduate students, and/or post-doctoral scholars. Develop courses designed to promote experiential learning and success of students from diverse backgrounds. Supervise graduate teaching assistants, as needed. 40% ' Research/Scholarship: Work towards distinction in research as evidenced by national and international recognition. Disseminate and publish scholarly work in peer-reviewed, top-ranked journals, conference proceedings, and books appropriate for the areas of interest, and by participation at national and international professional conferences and symposia. Establish and maintain an externally funded program of scholarly research in atmospheric sciences. Supervise research staff, graduate research assistants, and/or student employees, as needed. 10% ' Service
