Northrop Grumman Space Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.

The Space Components Division is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our team. This position could be located in Commerce, CA .

This position may be filled at a level 2 or level 3.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product. Scanning and filing work orders; ensuring all scanned work orders are readable based on quality of source document

  • Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place. Discarding or archiving hardcopy of work orders, and tested material, as directed or once the project is completed

  • Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.

  • Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.

  • Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.

  • Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.

  • May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.

  • May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

Level 2 Requirements

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years' of relevant work experience OR a Master's degree and a minimum of zero plus years of work experience required

Level 3 Requirements

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years' of relevant work experience OR a Master's degree and a minimum of 3 years' of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications

Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma experience or certification

ASQ Certified Quality Engineer certification

AS9100 & ISO9001 lead auditor certification or experience
