JPMorgan Chase Sr. Spanish Translator in Columbus, Ohio

The Sr. Spanish Translator will be a member of the Communications and Translations Services Team . This team's core objective is ensuring that all translations are accurate, clear, consistent, and reflect the company's brand through language and tone of voice. The Sr. Spanish Translator will be responsible to perform accurate and quality translations as well as reviews of translated documents on behalf of Chase Consumer and Community Banking Business areas including but not limited to: Card Services, Mortgage, and Consumer Banking. The desired candidate must thrive in a fast-paced environment.


  • Provide editorial review/proofing of vendor and internal written translations from English into Spanish and Spanish into English for all lines of business to ensure consistency of messaging and tone across the organization

  • Employ the usage of translation tools including SDL, translation memories, Glossaries, style guides, etc.

  • Manage translation project deliverables

  • Responsible to ensure language quality

  • Process, resolve and track quality disputes

  • Providing quality scorecard for third party provider(s) quality performance

  • Provide verification of eletter accuracy

  • Reconciliation of third party provider projects

  • Assist with training Translators

  • Assist Translators with questions related to translations

  • Update procedures

  • Function as back up for the quality meetings

  • Update terminology and glossaries on a timely basis

  • Assist with the update of resources (Translation memories , Term Base, and Style guide)

  • Participate on testing for new tools, systems, procedures

Skills and Competencies:

  • English and Spanish Review/Editing experience

  • English to Spanish and/or other languages Translation experience.

  • Expertise in financial, legal and regulatory content. (a plus)

  • Possess great command of grammar English and Spanish

  • Must have strong editing background

  • Must be self-motivated

  • Should have the ability to meet deadlines and be able to work under pressure

  • Be able to relay the tone and style of the original language

  • Candidate must be able to identify and understand proper application use of the following:

  • Inappropriate idiomatic expressions

  • Use of informal Spanish

  • Use of language and or expression that negatively impacts the quality of communication

  • Use of Jargon

Experience and Education:

  • A Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in related field or equivalent work experience preferred

  • Requires advanced knowledge of communications and possesses excellent writing and editing skills in both English and Spanish

  • Advanced proficiency in at least English and Spanish Language,

  • Able to speak, read, and write fluently in Spanish; native or near native fluency in English required. Equally capable of providing Spanish to English and English to Spanish written translation/Review/Editing

  • Experience in financial, legal, marketing content translation with consumer banking related translation a plus

  • Detail Oriented and must work well with a team of translators and other partners; able to accept and provide peer review of translations

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and effective time-management, organizational, and leadership competencies

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint), is required

  • General knowledge of Computer-assisted tools (CAT) preferred but not required

  • SDL Experience desired but not required
