We are currently seeking a Lab Technician . This position may be located in West Jefferson or Columbus, OH .
JOB SUMMARY
Applies job skills and applicable policies and procedures to complete a variety of tasks. Clearly communicates routine research procedures and results for contribution to reports. Works on assignments that are semi-routine in nature where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required. May train and guide less experienced staff and may provide input to performance reviews. Verifies the accuracy, applicability, and reasonableness of project work. Is encouraged to make recommendations but has limited discretion when making judgments and completing tasks. Conducts standard as well as non-standard tasks under close supervision and guidance of more experienced staff. Keeps supervisor informed regularly on status of work. Applicants should be flexible to work 2nd shift (and potentially 3rd shift if needed) as well as weekends. Applicant may be required to report to work in Columbus, Ohio or West Jefferson, Ohio as needed.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform routine and non-routine tests and analyses using appropriate technical equipment and instruments
Receive and process samples
Analyze test results, and log and report results using computer software and Integrated Health Information System
Perform quality control and calibrate equipment as necessary
Prepare reagents, label reagents appropriately, and organize supplies
Record all data in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy
Ensure that all safety standards are followed and maintain a clean work area
Perform testing in a regulated environment
Adhere to CLIA regulations for performing tests and in training
THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree in a biological or chemical science field preferred
1-2 years of experience working in a lab
Computer skills: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel
Strong attention to detail
Excellent organizational skills
Strong communication and troubleshooting skills
Dexterity with micropipettes, microtubes, and other delicate lab equipment
Experience performing PCR assays
Experience in laboratory quality control and quality assurance frameworks (ISO, GLP, CLIA, or similar)
Ability to work 2nd and 3rd shift and weekends as needed.
US citizen or Permanent Resident.
THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED
- Clinical lab or medical technologist experience.
