NiSource Category Lead - Information Technology (location flexible across NiSource Operating Territory) in Columbus, Ohio

Purpose Key ResultsThis position is responsible for strategically crafting formal agreements with existing and new vendors and partners. These agreements consist of statements of work, master services agreements, professional services agreements, SaaS agreements, and end-user license agreements amongst others. The person selected will negotiate with business partners while having the best interests for NiSource as a key driver. They must be able to organize and drive internal leaders to decisions and support multiple Information Technology leaders within NiSource. Key metrics for success include reducing completion time of agreements, Cost savings and cost avoidance, ensuring that new technology vendors understand the requirements of our existing systems and how they will appropriately implement and integrate with our current technology stack(s).The Category Lead is an Individual Contributor that reports into the Procurement Organization and is responsible for managing external expenditures for assigned categories along the following three areas: Category Plan Development and Execution: Develop, execute and maintain a complete Category Plan for assigned category(s), collaborating with key stakeholders, Supply Chain team members and the Manager(s) of Procurement Operations affected by the respective category(s). Supplier Management: Maintain supplier segmentation to identify critical suppliers and facilitate management of critical supplier relationships Stakeholder Management: Engage and manage stakeholders impacted by their respective expenditure categoriesEssential Responsibilities:Category Plan Development and Execution include: Establishing, leading/facilitating and supporting cross functional category management teams to develop and maintain category plans and ongoing category performance Developing deep knowledge and experience within assigned spend management responsibilities Developing spend/performance and external market analyses to monitor category performance and identify performance improvement opportunities Developing spend and savings/performance improvement forecasts to monitor progress and ensure goals are achieved Developing plans to capture identified opportunities Defining category requirements through collaborative efforts with respective stakeholder groups Collaborating with stakeholder groups to develop consensus on the appropriate category plans and priorities Leading performance improvement initiatives defined by the category plan including strategic sourcing and other performance improvement initiatives Establishing, leading/facilitating and supporting cross functional strategic sourcing/performance improvement teams as needed/prescribed by category plans to achieve savings and performance targets (e.g. reduce cost, improve quality and result in a lower total cost of ownership, meeting supplier diversity goals) Leading negotiations with suppliers as needed Maintaining critical supplier agreements including renewals, negotiation of terms, issue identification, tracking and resolutionSupplier Management responsibilities include: Developing and maintaining supplier criticality ratings and managing resulting critical supplier relationships Managing supplier relationships including conducting Quarterly Business Reviews with critical suppliers and NiSource Executive SponsorsStakeholder Management responsibilities include: Developing successful partnerships with key stakeholders / business partners to achieve desired results Developing and managing cross-functional category management and strategic sourcing teams as needed Collaborating with stakeholders to drive needed decisions to achieve desired resultsQualifications:Required for Selection: Bachelor degree from an accredited college or equivalent work related experience Proven track record to deliver results and achieve goals Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships with others Experience leading cross-functional teams Ability to build support and consensus Proven financial acumen and analytical abilitiesPreferred for Selection: Strong understanding of cloud based software solutions and services. Excellent interpersonal and technical communication skills MBA Certified Procurement Manager (CPM) Three years of leadership experience Experience managing large supplier agreements Experience working in a Shared Services organizationTechnical/Functional Competencies:Required for Selection: Stays current on knowledge of leading supply chain practices and benchmarks outside of the company Applies knowledge of leading supply chain practices to identify and innovate solutions Collaborates with internal business partners and suppliers across the supply chain to implement solutions Is recognized as a supply chain leader and sponsor with internal business partners and suppliers Shares supply chain knowledge to ensure awareness throughout the companyPreferred for Selection: Supply Chain experience in the utility industry Knowledgeable in category management and strategic sourcing practices Ability to negotiate complex agreements with suppliers and key internal stakeholdersGeneral/Transferable Competencies:Required for Selection: Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and facilitation skills Exceptional analytical skills Proven track record of leadership Ability to effectively collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders Ability to establish an effective network with internal stakeholders Ability to actively plan and work with internal stakeholders to develop a long term service strategy which can benefit both parties Demonstrated ownership and accountability for relationships (or the relationship) with internal stakeholders, as well as meeting all expectations, goals, and objectives of the internal stakeholder Attention to political and cultural aspects in problem analysis and decision making Proven track record of tackling complex problems (e.g. outside immediate scope, impacts multiple stakeholders, etc.) often mobilizing resources from other functional groups and/or geographic boundaries Ability to make appropriate business decisions despite incomplete information, risks and pressures
