THIS JOB ANNOUNCEMENT IS OPEN UNTIL POSITION IS FILLED.
BROAD SCOPE OF POSITION:
This position reports to the Media Production Supervisor and collaborates with staff to develop video content for public relations communications and to develop video-based training for parents and service providers of children/students who are Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing/and/or Blind/Visually Impaired. This position also delivers approved initial media production training for staff in the use of video technology.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrates knowledge of state-of-the-art technology and resources related to media production.
Demonstrates knowledge and skill in the areas of organization/planning, training, customer service and teamwork.
Works as a member of a team responsible for identifying, developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating the success of media production efforts.
Works effectively as a member of the media production team and with service providers to produce content for the CSDB YouTube channel, live broadcasts and public relations communications.
Works on all aspects of production: planning, scriptwriting, recording, editing, narration, audio description, closed captioning, and Spanish subtitles.
Positively serves as a member of the media production team, and of the Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind (CSDB); and participates in regular team and departmental meetings, as required.
Works a flexible schedule, occasional evenings and Saturdays, to support media production activities as needed.
Participates in activities related to professional development and training/workshops, as appropriate.
Performs other appropriate duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Communication, Educational/Media/Information Technology or closely related field from an accredited college or university, with specialization in Communication/Media Technology.
Three (3) years of professional media production experience which includes the utilization of current technology in media production.
Preferred: Experience working with children/staff (in an educational environment).
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) at the Intermediate (2+) skill level, or applicants must be willing and able to achieve proficiency at the required level within a specified period of time as demonstrated through an appropriate assessment tool and according to school policy/procedures.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Knowledge of and ability to use various media production platforms, such as Adobe Creative Cloud, and others as identified.
Knowledge of and ability to use current applications for video production, including Premiere Pro Video Editing and Production software, Media Encoder and After Effects Video Effects software or other software production applications.
Knowledge of and ability to assess and apply technology to perform the requirements of the position; ability to effectively utilize a variety of computer software applications, which may include but is not limited to e-mail, internet, word processing, electronic calendar, presentation and multimedia development, spreadsheet, database, web-page development, digital video and audio editing, image processing, graphics abilities, etc.; willingness to stay current and develop skills as needed with or without direct support from CSDB.
Knowledge of and ability to operate production level equipment for video production, live webcasts, and broadcasts.
Ability to communicate effectively with all audiences.
Ability to respond effectively and positively to feedback.
Ability to work cooperatively with others and participate effectively in a team setting.
Strong, positive interpersonal skills and leadership skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, some evenings and Saturdays, to support media production activities as needed.
Ability and willingness to travel (frequently) throughout the state of Colorado.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Full-Time (1.0 FTE); scheduled to work 260 days (July through June).
Employment is at-will, with no actual, expressed or implied contract
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

CSDB is a non-smoking facility in its entirety.
