The Material Coordinator coordinates and expedites flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules or department supervisors' priorities. In this job, the Material Coordinator, Lead reviews production schedules and confers with department supervisors to determine material required or overdue and to locate material, requisitions material and establishes delivery sequences to departments according to job order priorities and anticipated availability of material; arranges for in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules, and with department supervisors for repair and assembly of material and its transportation to various departments, and examines material delivered to production departments to verify if type specified.
This worker may monitor and control movement of material and parts along conveyor system, using remote-control panel board, compute amount of material needed for specific job orders, applying knowledge of product and manufacturing processes and using adding machine; compile report of quantity and type of material on hand, move or transport material from one department to another, using hand truck or industrial truck; may compile perpetual production records in order to locate material in process of production, using manual or computerized system, and maintain employee records.
Coordinates and executes freight shipments into and out of the installation. Load plans major Line Haul moves utilizing MS Excel.
Monitors and evaluates effectiveness of services provided by commercial carriers. Inspects freight carrier’s facilities for freight that is astray and Terminal conditions (GOCARE program).
Maintains and interprets various tenders from commercial carriers and applies discounts for selection of most economical and quality service mode of transportation.
Ensures required service is provided by “Best Value” to the Government based on DoD Transportation Regulatory requirements.
Responsible for the proper classification, consolidation, transport mode and carrier selective routing, documentation, preparation and verification and processing of Government and/or Commercial Bills of Lading.
Conducts monthly internal audits on all CBLs, TDR and Syncada transactions.
Resolves issues with CBL generation under the CMOS program.
Provides technical advice and assistance on shipping Government freight to include Small Package Express shipments.
Responsible for clearing Inbound and Outbound freight shipments and tracing freight identified that is determined to a frustrated or having a discrepancy. Prepares Transportation Discrepancy Reports (TDR) and process astray and frustrated shipments. Obtains exhibits, pictures, investigates, and transmits within required DoD regulatory time lines.
Inspects In-bound shipments from notification of consignee for possibility of improper handling by commercial carrier.
Processes all modes of shipments by generating automated CBLs within the CMOS / GFM systems.
Updates and submits all Freight’s CDRLs to TM.
Prepares required reports and maintains statistical data.
Performs other duties as assigned.
High School graduate or equivalent.
Management transportation courses obtained through industry, military or civilian courses are desirable.
Two years’ experience in industrial, commercial or Government organization of freight movement operations.
HAZMAT certification is desired. Experience in DoD Transportation and Supply computer programs such as Global Freight Management (GFM), Cargo Movement Operations System (CMOS), Syncada, GTN, and IBS systems are extremely desired.
Must possess and continuously maintain a current State of Colorado Driver’s License prior to start date or by 30 days after employment.
Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries NACI to obtain a CAC.
Must receive a favorable background check and drug testing results.
Must be able to stand, sit, reach, bend and walk for extended periods of time.
Material & Equipment Directly Used:
- Material Handling Equipment, i.e. Fork lift trucks, electric and gasoline, up to 10K LB capacity Computer knowledge for FEDLOG and SARSS applications.Computer equipment, various software programs, fax, photocopier and typewriter.
Working Environment/Physical Activities:
Work is generally conducted in an office environment. However, duties may involve the conduct of work in the out-of-doors area with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions. Work will require lifting up to 50 lbs; stooping; climbing; prolonged standing; prolonged sitting; and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical or biological agents. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required is certain areas. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations and published Company work rules.Reports to the Transportation Manager, functions somewhat independently, but in coordination with assigned Military, Government, DoD Contract personnel.
