What will you do?
In the Controls Engineer role you will design and integrate controls within wide range of industry leading portable pump packages. This is a technical role that requires a practical understanding of:
Low voltage electronics
International regulations on low voltage electronics
Machine to machine communications
What are your essential duties/principal responsibilities?
As a Controls Engineer, you work alongside a highly skilled and multi-disciplined engineering team to integrate new diesel engines into our product portfolio. You take the lead on integrating our customer HMIs with various engine management systems and pump process sensors. Furthermore you will be working with internal and external specialists and in addition continuously develop our customer HMIs to meet our customer requirements and market regulations. Additional responsibilities are:
Develop new products and applications as they fit within Xylem s strategic growth initiatives.
Working with engineering and its suppliers; select appropriate monitoring and controls equipment for our engineered to order pump packages.
Plan, schedule, quote and monitor projects to ensure proper timing and quality.
Working with engineering and suppliers; take the lead to ensure our products meet the appropriate electrical standards.
Create wiring diagrams.
Provide technical support to our regional engineers working to meet custom and complex control requirements of our customers.
Provide technical support to our regional engineers commissioning and troubleshooting product in the field.
Educate and train sales force in the implementation, operation and maintenance of controls technology.
What do we ask from you for this position?
Higher education in Engineering (Electrical, Chemical or Mechanical)
Ability to comprehend and produce electrical wiring diagrams
Practical understanding of low voltage electrical design
Practical understanding of machine to machine communications
Practical understanding of electrical standards
Ability to program and set parameters for VFDs and PLC software.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
Proven ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize, meet deadlines and work independently with initiative in a fast paced environment
Ability to collaborate and build effective relationships at all levels of the organization
Proficiency with CAD & Microsoft Office
We have some additional preferred qualifications:
2 years or more experience in a related field (preferable; water industry and/or automotive industry)
Experience with commissioning and troubleshooting low voltage instrumentation.
General knowledge of diesel engines and emissions regulations.
