The College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology-Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant is recruiting for a full-time (100% FTE) Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities. Job Summary: Under general supervision from an attending MD, assist in providing comprehensive, continuous, and personalized care to bone marrow transplant patients in the inpatient setting at University of Cincinnati Hospital-8NW. The individual will provide patient/family education and may be expected to participate in teaching activities for students, residents and fellows. The individual will have a four day (10 hour) rotation which will include alternating weekends including holidays.Nurse Practitioner:Responsibilities include:Conduct comprehensive or episodic health history and physical assessment of patients, including new consults daily and follow-up on existing inpatient consults on the Hematology Oncology serviceConduct basic physical and psychosocial assessment of the individual and/or family. Assist physicians and other providers in delivery of careDiscriminate between normal conditions and normal and abnormal deviations by specific screening and tests. Refer patients with abnormal findings to physiciansPerform bone marrow aspiration/biopsies, skin punch biopsies, and lumbar puncture proceduresWill admit, follow and discharge inpatient service patientsManage common episodic and chronic illnesses and administer medication and treatments as prescribed. Obtain treatment consents as neededProvide counseling and health trainingMaintain accurate recordsParticipate in research and development projectsOrder supplies as necessary; stock and maintain roomsPerform related duties based on departmental needFour day rotation will include alternating weekends and holidays.
