Actalent Customer Support Controls Engineer in Cincinnati, Ohio

Description:

POSITION SUMMARY: - The Customer Support Controls Engineer is responsible for assembling, testing and modifying PLC software and hardware for previously installed material handling systems. This role understands equipment, business and customer requirements that drive the design of the technical solutions that efficiently and effectively support the business' systems and operations. The diagnoses causes of malfunctions or failures and perform preventative/corrective maintenance. JOB DUTIES: - Works directly with customers to determine system and performance issues; performs minor modifications to customer systems to enhance performance or modify operations; elevates concerns and issues to appropriate engineering & management personnel (90% remote support) - Fields escalated calls from lower Tech Support Controls Engineers - Programs PLCs to support material handling control systems - Coordinates major modifications of previously installed systems - Interfaces with internal departments to determine needs and to improve systems/processes - Supports activities to ensure timely and accurate insights of the analysis of hardware and software related issues - Debugs electrical installations of motor components and controls - Provides post-installation system and equipment support - Provides after-hours customer service and support (as needed) - Occasional travel to customer sites either locally, nationally, and/or internationally to provide on-site technical support services may be required (up to 10%)

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or related field - Willing to work after hours (5:00pm-8:00am weekdays) in "after hours" support - Willing to work up to two weekends per month in "on call" support - 2-5 years progressive technical support experience - Material Handling Equipment (MHE) industry experience preferred - Solid understanding of electrical principles, control devices and motor control products - Experience in Ladder Logic Programming - Understanding of variable-frequency drive design and operation principles - Understanding of MHE server-based software principles -
