Here’s what you would be doing if hired for the position. The position provides support to the Auto Underwriting Specialist and the Underwriter Director. This position will gather data from several sources, including the clients, on new and renewal business for the underwriting decision process. This position will organize the data comprised to speed decision making on the part of the underwriter. The underwriter will perform risk selection, rejection, pricing and retention per divisional objectives. This position will have exposure to learning all of the above and to develop effective business relationships with internal and external customers and coworkers in relation to the underwriting process.
Managing the flow of incoming submissions and obtaining necessary underwriting information by various methods to completion
Managing the process of having submissions entered in the system and rated up
Manage the workflow from start to finish including having submissions rated, obtaining facultative reinsurance, doing initial set up of underwriting documents (UAP), setting up quotes, and working with ResourcePro on binding/issuance
Managing agent/MAE requests to resolution
Checking policies for accuracy
Ensuring all appropriate forms are completed and documentation uploaded to the file
Completion of required auto filings
Utilizes computerized systems for research, tracking, information gathering and / or troubleshooting (i.e., Excel / Word programs, legacy systems, internal systems, third party vendor delivered systems, etc.).
Shares and / or conveys information via telephone, e-mail, fax, regular mail or in person to underwriters, agents, brokers, reinsurers and / or insureds maintaining a professional demeanor in all situations.
May perform other tasks including support, photocopying, imaging, mail, data entry.
Builds working knowledge of policies and procedures, as well as the business (including products, coverages, etc.) and organization. Complies with company and regulatory guidelines.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements: Sedentary (requires prolonged sitting and use of a computer)
Bachelor’s degree required. Math, Finance, Accounting, Insurance or related degree strongly preferred or a Business equivalent field of study
Minimum 3 years of business experience preferably in auto underwriting or other underwriting capacity
Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office
Must be technologically savvy and data driven
Must possess strong math skills, be a logical thinker and be very organized
Travel Percentage: 0 to 10%
