Cantel Medical NPD Sourcing Manager in Chicago, Illinois

This position is responsible to be the sourcing lead on New Product Development (NPD) teams and initiatives. This position will ensure timely and best-cost solutions to all sourcing and supply chain related inputs to NPD projects and contribute to the success in the market of new products. Additionally, this position will continuously and proactively investigate new suppliers and technologies in order to submit ideas to sourcing, engineering, and product management to maintain a funnel of opportunities to support the organizational goals.

  • Work with product management on idea generation and partner on preliminary investigation of new suppliers and technologies”

  • Contribute as the supply chain subject matter expert to project planning for NPD projects”

  • Execute sourcing and supply chain tasks to support on time product launches while achieving cost targets to align with successful and profitable market launches”

  • Utilizes the Strategic Sourcing process, including the RFI/RFx process on a global basis. Manages supplier selection process and ensures supplier selections are based on sound selection criteria”

  • Work closely with commodity managers to understand supply chain capabilities and align new programs and award of new business with commodity strategies and Preferred Suppliers

  • Negotiate and execute supply and stocking agreements for new suppliers through NPD projects by aligning with cross-functional teams for long term success of new products”

  • Coordinate and participate in on-site visits and audits for supplier onboarding and investigation

  • Own relationships with new suppliers through product launch and efficiently transition ownership to assigned commodity manager

  • Communicate and coordinate with supply planning to transition new products into operations upon approval and release to align with project and market requirements.

  • Other responsibilities as needed

Functional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management, or an equivalent field.

  • Minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in sourcing or related field in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to quantify/evaluate manufacturing processes and technologies to ensure “best cost” solutions for purchased components and new product cost parameters

  • Proficiency in MS Office, Advanced skills in MS Excel and MS Project preferred

  • High standards of integrity required

  • High energy level and strong self-motivation required

  • High levels of curiosity and interest in new technology and processes in both manufacturing and in dental/medical practice

  • Experience operating in a controlled quality system, ISO 13485 preferred

  • Experience with new product development programs, stage gate processes preferred.

  • Experience in supply chain management in a regulated industry desired, Medical Device Industry preferred

  • Highly analytical with ability to present data in an actionable format

  • Planning and organizational skills with an ability to handle a multitude of projects required, project management experience desired

  • Professional designations or certifications by SAVE International is preferred

  • Trained in the use of DFMA software or equivalent is preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills (oral, writing and reading).

Travel

  • 10-25% based on business needs for HFG manufacturing and distribution centers and on-site supplier visits

Working Conditions

  • General office conditions apply. Sitting, standing, very little lifting (less than 10% of the time and no more than 20 lbs). Good lighting and no special vision requirements, although employees may spend significant amounts of time in front of a computer. Quiet conditions. No exposure to outside, extreme weather, or hazardous conditions.
