The Innovation home area of the ELCA churchwide organization champions and drives 1) organizational change and innovation culture; 2) the development of new and useful things and 3) the co-creators to get the work done. The home area also includes the core functions for innovation and ideas; learning and engagement; and research, analysis and data.
In close collaboration with the Innovation Services lead, this person will be the primary customer experience (CX)/user experience (UX) designer within the Innovation home area of the ELCA churchwide organization. This position will bring expertise and passion for placing users at the center of the processes and experiences we co-create. You will communicate and visualize data with internal and external collaborators with a focus on enabling informed decision-making.
Customer/User Experience Design: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to implement the principles of CX/UX design. Including the facilitation of workshops/sessions on design thinking, journey mapping, etc. Develop journey maps, storyboards, personas etc. that help to increase understanding of customers/users. v Serves as lead promoter and networker for the Lab and consultative resource person to churchwide organization executive group and other core leaders, such as synods and related ministries interested in pursuing innovation strategy.
Customer/User Research: Develop principles and processes for collecting customer/user feedback. Ensure user/customer feedback received is utilized in design processes. Assist with the implementation and evaluation of customer/user centered designs.
Data Visualization and reporting support: Communicate user/customer insights to internal audiences. Analyze and visualize data sets for use in decision-making.
Other projects, collaborations and duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone. One or more years of UX/CX design experience and portfolio of UX/CX design work samples. Certification in customer experience/user experience and/or membership in a professional association (ex. Customer Experience Professionals Association) a plus.
Proven experience contributing to team and project-related work and initiatives.
Excellent interpersonal skills: the ability to attract and work collegially and collaboratively with a diverse population both inside and outside of the workplace to present, motivate, communicate, and engage effectively both verbally and in written form.
Knowledge and experience with innovation and design-thinking (including equity-centered design) theory and practice with a particular focus on user-centered design and research methods, preferred.
Self-directed, self-motivated intuitive thinker focused on closing the gap between ideas and implementation with comfortability utilizing and introducing virtual and technological tools.
