The Consultant is expected to have solid core middle-office operations knowledge as well as specialized knowledge based on experience and / or applicable certifications in at least one of the following areas: 1) middle office operations, with a specialty in reconciliations, reporting, or cash processing; 2) business analysis or business process optimization 3) automation and / or technology application development. The successful IOO SME Consultant operates under general supervision but works independently most of the time.The Subject Matter Expert (SME) function is responsible for end-to-end oversight of assigned process , process design with an understanding of technical and operating challenges, and solutions as they relate to the current and future business environment. This role drives process change by identifying and integrating new processes with existing ones and communicating these changes.MAJOR DUTIES1. Leads or assists with complex projects with significant financial, client, and / or internal business impact.2. New business onboarding.3. Oversee application upgrades and improvements, including requirements definition, test script writing, and test script execution.4. Will have direct interaction with committees and / or Senior Management.5. Able to serve as a key subject matter expert and mentor to other more junior level employees.6. Business and technical writing for requirements gathering, process and procedure documentation.KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS- Technical expertise in one or more subjects, with broader knowledge of other areas- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required- In-depth functional / industry knowledge is required- Highly flexible and adaptable to change- Ability to operate in a fast-moving / high pressure environmentEXPERIENCE- A College or University degree and / or relevant proven work experience is preferred- May be in final stages of studying for relevant professional qualification or accreditation- Previous financial industry operations, asset management and / or investment operations experience a plus- Previous experience leading business process or technology enhancement initiativesAbout Northern Trust: Northern Trust provides innovative financial services and guidance to corporations, institutions and affluent families and individuals globally.
