TEKsystems Business Analyst (Data) in Chicago, Illinois
This will be aligned to a group for Data Governance within the Office of the Chief Data Officer. This group is undergoing major philosophical change (being spearheaded by the new Chief Data Officer, Paul Tatseos) that have been very well received within the team as well as the organization. This resource will be helping out Michelle Wick (TEK former of our that we placed at NT who converted over to an FTE) and her team on defining the dimensions of their assets.
These Business Data Analysts will be doing more business-centric modeling (conceptual). Shaun does not want them to be "a logical & physical modeler" or someone who is too technical. For their group they are implementing a canonical model - a design pattern used to communicate between different data formats. This is essentially creating a data model which is a superset of all the others ("canonical"), and create a "translator" module or layer to/from which all existing modules exchange data with other modules.
They will be responsible for defining business data requirements, documenting process definitions and process re-engineering, performing data quality analysis, incident triage, and defining systems integration requirements. They will be working with individuals & stakeholders across different business areas (i.e. Data Governance, Wealth Management, other LOBs) to understand a variety of systems that exist in silos that also share dependencies in data. They will be helping to lead requirements efforts including creating detailed current state and future state process diagrams, documenting use cases and assumptions, and mitigating project dependencies.
Exceptional at interviewing business partners ensure refined requirements
Experience with Business and/or Data Quality Rules

Good Communication – Not Tech Speak
This process is end to end data management. Senior management is supporting the build out of data. Now they are holistically reconciling all of wealth management data. The main pain point from this group was the data showing up different data depending on the system you use. The major goal is to have the data provide a uniformed appearance. Business terms will be redefined to better explain to the user exactly what they should see in the data.
This Business Data Analyst will act as an interface between business and IT to understand, document, and track business data needs and high level data requirements. The ideal candidate will display an exemplary level of personal interaction skills during direct contact and will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills. This candidate will be fluent in SQL, have hands on experience with data analysis, requirements management, functional specification, and will be knowledgeable in functional design and data modeling.
