Ardmore Roderick Associate Civil Engineer in Chicago, Illinois
Ardmore Roderick is seeking an Associate Engineer to assist in the preparation of designs for various projects related to the Power Industry in the Chicago Metro areas. These projects may include power delivery equipment, substation design, and site utility design. Candidate must be highly detail oriented and organized.
The successful candidate must demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems
Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and engineering theory
Knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices
General knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform assignments for a specific discipline, various installations, or services
Ability to participate in field surveys and walkdowns
Other valued qualifications include:
Experience in power distribution, site development, or related design experience
Knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation and/or GIS platforms
Engineer in Training License
Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform engineering assignments independently while under the guidance of an experienced engineer.
Advocate engineering decisions, assumptions, and results for designs.
Track priorities and deadlines of engineering tasks associated to multiple projects of varying size and complexity.
Prepare designs meeting all engineering standards and criteria.
Prepare and/or peer review deliverable drawings, calculations and reports.
Participate in field walkdowns, design review meetings and/or conference calls.
