Job Summary
We are currently seeking exceptional MEng (or equivalent degree qualified) Engineers in Civil Engineering within the Development Infrastructure team in the Chesterfield office. This is a wonderful opportunity to join our growing design team receiving ‘on the job training’ working on a wide range of civil engineering projects across the region and beyond whilst being allocated a senior engineer who will provide mentoring during the development period.
Successful applicants will continually develop their skills in civil engineering with the aim of becoming a world class civil engineer and will be supported in order to hone technical skills ensuring real opportunities for personal growth and career progression. We also provide a variety of in-house training opportunities.
Civils:
Engagement in masterplan development
Contributions to Transport Assessments and EIA process
Preparation of surface water drainage strategies and flood risk assessments
Preparation of foul water drainage strategies and utility appraisals
Site levels design and cut/fill analysis to optimise use of materials on site
Feasibility and highway route studies
Highway design
Junction design
Traffic management planning
Pavement analysis and design
Drainage analysis and design
Utility layout and diversion design
Job Duties:
Production of CAD (Computer Aided Design) drawings and modelling
Preparation of simple civil engineering calculations
Supporting the administration of projects, including maintaining records
Assisting with data review and analysis
Ensuring outputs are accurate and meet the required standards
Meeting agreed deadlines
Working as a member of a team
Contributing to providing solutions to problems
Minimum Requirements
Streetscape (street lighting, fencing, traffic signals and traffic sign) design
Coordination of designs with the project team in 3d as part of BIM
Liaising with authorities to secure approval for the designs
Contract Administration and Supervision
Specific Skills Required:
Show an aptitude towards software-based engineering design and drawing e.g. Computer Aided Design (CAD) and other similar 3D software.
Demonstrate an interest in and a desire to pursue a career specifically within Civil Engineering.
Commitment to continued education and improvement through on-the-job learning and training opportunities.
Creative, practical, adaptable and enthusiastic.
Ability to demonstrate attention to detail.
Ability to think in a methodical way to design, plan and organise parts of projects.
English language proficient, holding excellent communication skills to present information in speech, drawings and reports.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum post-graduate work in an appropriate technical role.
