Volvo Group Region Credit Controller in Chesapeake, Virginia

The Finance Department in Volvo Penta of the Americas (VPA) is looking for a Region Credit Controller.

The Finance Team is located at our North American Headquarters in Chesapeake, Virginia. In this role, you will work in a truly global context, interacting with countries, cultures and external partners predominantly in the Western Hemisphere, but also around the world on a frequent basis.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

We are looking for a solution-oriented financial professional with a commercial mindset. Candidates need to possess integrity and interpersonal skills. The ability to communicate and to work with people on different levels within the organization, and with customers, is essential. The candidate should be skilled working in teams, as well as managing individual projects and taking the initiative. Strong analytical skills are key to this position. It is essential that you have the drive to reach objectives and can take on challenges with an open and positive attitude. It is of utmost importance that the successful candidate has the skillset to contribute in the areas of customer setup across multiple systems, Master Data maintenance, management of credit limits, terms through participation in the Region Credit Committee and development of its agenda, knowledge of receivables insurance and collateral evaluation.

The position reports directly to the Region Credit Manager, Volvo Penta of the Americas.

MAIN ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Credit Risk Management

  • Evaluates new customer setup documents for accuracy and compliance.

  • Assesses Risk through analysis of Financial Statements.

  • Develop ability to interpret Volvo credit scoring data. Creates credit cases and develops the Agenda for bi-weekly Region and Global Credit Committees.

  • Manage the Credit Portal Database for continuation of credit limits, terms and collateral status.

  • Articulates the strengths and weaknesses of credit cases and develops bridges to meet business needs.

  • Manages receivables insurance coverage need or collateral requirements such as letters of credits, guarantees in line with opportunities.

A/R Management and Collection

  • Assist in the management of A/R collection activities to reach target past due level.

  • Support and coordinate collection activities with ACC shared service center staff and Sales organization.

  • Work with efficiencies within accounts receivable processes (A/R).

  • Create and propose efficient A/R reporting tools.

Reporting

  • Generates forecasts of monthly receivables results and participates in the closing of the AR.

  • Updates monthly reports.

  • Author segment specific or Ad Hoc reports as needed.

  • Perform other duties, task and responsibilities as assigned by Region Credit Manager.

Business Partner Master Data Management

  • Manage and protect the customer data set up process and data.

  • Oversee, maintain, and at times execute the customer set-up process.

  • Secure business partner data accuracy.

  • Updates and cleanses Customer Master Database in JDE and Business Partner Master Systems.

  • Identify opportunities and drive continuous improvements in processes, systems and structures.

  • Participates in projects related to customer data management.

  • Updates and publishes written processes as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS (Required)

  • University degree in accounting, finance or business administration

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in credit management including trade finance activities

  • Ability to analyze financial statements and make sound business recommendations based on business risks and opportunities

  • Ability to utilize effective interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with individuals of diverse backgrounds and styles

  • High proficiency in written and spoken English, Spanish and/or Portuguese is a plus

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office and experience from working in SAP systems

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Knowledge of accounting, finance, collection, bankruptcy procedures, company tax and commercial law and Code of Commerce in relation to accounts receivable

  • Knowledge in Credit Portal (SAP) and Power BI (Microsoft) is a great advantage

  • Legal contract knowledge
